Hospitalization Rates & Delayed/Missed Care

When traveling, the health of those traveling can often become a back-burner issue that can lead to lack of necessary medication, missed appointments and can even lead to increased hospitalization if the individuals health is ignored or the travel was for medical tourism.

Hospitalization Rate Post Travel

Long wait times and travel times for healthcare make it harder to access adequate healthcare, which may lead to delays and negative outcomes in patient health. Along with this issue, there are commonly inadequate infection control practices in some clinics outside the US. This can lead to patients contracting dangerous infections that are difficult to treat. This includes antibiotic-resistant strains and illnesses that lead to higher hospitalization rates, causing a larger strain on providers and putting more healthcare workers at risk of contracting illnesses.

Missed/Delayed Care

Patients who seek treatment abroad may face post-operative complications, medication issues, as well as language barriers from the prior care. This can all complicate patient care for the patient when they return to the US and receive continuing care from physicians here in the US.
